First Ever Ipswich School Giving Day raises £105,000!

We have been simply overwhelmed with the response to our First Ever Giving Day!

Overall the day raised £105,000 to help support at least three Ukrainian pupils who will start at the school in September and we are really looking forward to welcoming them to the school community. The day also helped to raise funds for the Phoenix Hardship fund which steps in when a family has a change in circumstances whilst at the school, this could be loss of income, illness and sometimes loss of a parent. A vital fund to keep a pupils life stable in a time of difficulty.

The day was designed to maximise awareness and engagement to garner support to open access to an Ipswich School education and it was remarkable. 36 hours of positivity, support and the Ipswich School community coming together, both virtually and on site here at Henley Road. We had cake competitions, a teacher tug of war, bands playing, 1399 collective laps of school field from all pupils, a pre-loved clothes sale, prep visits to the tuck shop and ice cream treats! A great time was had by all and there was a buzz around school. A huge thank you goes to all who were involved in getting the day off the ground including staff, pupils, Old Ipswichians and parents.

The day would not have been possible without the generous support of the Old Ipswichian Club who donated £30,000 as matched funding. This funding was unlocked throughout the 36 hours via various challenges. Collectively we smashed all of the challenges set, from encouraging a first gift to the school to getting our global Old Ipswichians involved by receiving donations from at least 8 different countries.

Mrs Brown, Development Director says "We are absolutely thrilled, thank you to the entire school, our Old Ipswichians, parents and friends. It was nerve-wracking going into this, but it exceeded expectations. We always knew our community was strong and had it has been demonstrated in a really great way, by helping to change people's lives. Thank you!"
