On Saturday, the Class of 1986 gathered to reminisce and catch-up 40 years after leaving Ipswich School. The turnout was great, with many of the cohort, former teachers and spouses in attendance. There were around 50 OIs who came to reunite with their former classmates. The atmosphere in the New Dining Hall was incredible as everyone caught up over some drinks and a buffet lunch, followed by a group photo at the front of Henley Road, and speeches from Head, Nick Gregory, Colin Scott (OI 1975-86) and Jonathan Gotelee (OI 1975-86). A poignant toast was raised to those who were not present.
We then headed out for a tour of the School starting along the Heritage Corridor, towards the Chapel, into Sherwood block, then to the Library and finally took a stroll along the main School Field, where we were lucky enough to observe the Girls 1st XI Cricket team match against Greshams School. There were lots of stories and memories recounted as we made our way around the grounds. A big thank you to Colin Scott and Jonathan Gotelee, who hosted the reunion event and helped gather everyone together.
Overall, the sun was shining and a lovely time was had by all in attendance. It was simply a great event.
