Old Ipswichian Peter MacLeod (OI 1970-81) has launched a podcast exploring what it's like to live, work and occasionally struggle with the Polish language as a British expat in Poland.
Pole-ish sees Peter, who is now based in Kraków, chatting with fellow expats and Polish guests about everything from Polish culture, food and traditions to bureaucracy, language, travel and the everyday quirks of life in the country. The show is aimed at anyone with an interest in Poland - whether they live there, have visited, are thinking of moving there, or simply want to understand what makes the country tick - or indeed anyone who has lived the expat life in a strange and foreign land.
The podcast is available on all the usual podcast platforms, including Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube, with new episodes featuring a variety of guests and plenty of stories from Peter's life in Poland.
Peter would particularly like to hear from his fellow Old Ipswichians. “It would be great if some of my old school friends dipped into the podcast and discovered what I've been up to since leaving Ipswich School,” he says. “And there's an added OI challenge - see if you can find the episode featuring another Old Ipswichian!”
More than four decades after leaving Ipswich School, Peter is still talking - although these days, there's a good chance the conversation will involve pierogi, bureaucracy or the correct pronunciation of Polish place names, rather than beer, girls or, very occasionally, maths!
