Some club news. The OI Eton Fives team progressed to the quarter finals of the Barber Cup for the fourth year in a row.

On Sunday 14th September the team played the Old Harrovians at Harrow.

At third pair, the team youngsters Harvey Garrard (OI 2016-23) and Henry Gardner (OI 2013-2024) secured the first point winning a close match 3-1 (15-12, 12-11, 9-12, 12-4).

At second pair Mark Graves (OI 1982-89) and Tim Gregory (OI 1982-89) (school first pair in 1988/89) were up against former National School Champions Nick Shaw and Jamie Fleming. Ipswich were second best in this game losing 0-3 (7-12, 2-12, 8-12).

The match rested on the 1st pair match. Gareth Hoskins (OI 1984-91) and Issac Weaver (OI 2010-20) were against the established pair of Freddie Prickett and Oscar Denby. A fantastic performance by Gareth and Isaac saw them win 3-2 (9-12, 12-6, 12-6, 9-12, 12-6). It is a long time since we have produced a win of this quality.

We play the Old Olavians (Champions in 23 of the last 25 years) in the quarter finals.
The OI Fives Club plays every Wednesday evening at the school. All players are welcome.
