On a festive evening in late December, 140 OIs reunited and celebrated at the annual AGM and Ipswich Dinner. The buzz in the Great School was palpable as snowflake projections stretched across the ceiling and the table dressings glittered. Guests of all ages mingled in the bar in the Little School before the dinner commenced. It was great to see so many young OIs attending alongside us golden oldies!
We were treated to four incredible courses, ending with a stellar cheese board to accompany some equally stellar speeches. Chris Swallow (1993-2000) recounted fond memories of his school days, shining a light onto the inspiring teachers who helped to forge both his cricketing and marketing careers. The Headmaster took us through the highlights of school life in 2019, even throwing in a nostalgic reference to social cheesecake for our young OIs! Finally, incoming president Tim Kiddell roused excitement for next year with a few words on writing speeches for the Prime Minister.
All in all, it was a very enjoyable and successful evening. It was a joy to bring so many members of our community together to celebrate.
William Coe OI (1976-1987)
