The guest speaker was Lt Toby Hudson who serves in the Welsh Guards. He was a strong speaker and talked about his career up to date - including playing a ceremonial role in the Coronation. This year marked the 75th time the CCF dinner was held at Ipswich School. It was also Mr Welbourne’s last one, as he is retiring from the School at the end of this term. Mr Welbourne was a cadet for four years, and spent 40 years in the School CCF, eventually becoming a Contingent Commander. Mr Welbourne was awarded a long service medal with three bars and he will have all his medals mounted and placed in a personalised presentation box. The Headmaster also gave a speech at the dinner, thanking Mr Welbourne for all he has done for the CCF at Ipswich School.

The dinner also included the annual CCF awards ceremony. There were two awards for Year 11 students: the Backhouse Trophy
was awarded to Elena F from the RAF section, and the Bob Clayton Shield was awarded to Max C from the Army section. The Dan Milgate Cup for the most dedicated Army NCO was awarded to Phoebe V, and the Allen Cup was awarded to Joe F.

The two Bantoft Sword awards went to Joe F from the RAF section and Daniel R-P from the Army section, with the final award of the Paton
Cup being awarded to Kareena G. Well done to everyone.
