Obituaries

DEREK CHAPMAN, passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2020, aged 79 years.

Husband of Barbara, father of Gary, Paul and Mark, grandfather and brother. Funeral service at All Saints’ Church, Kesgrave on Friday, January 24, at 13:30, followed by private interment. Family flowers only please, but donations, if wished, for either Kesgrave PCC or the RSPB may be sent to Farthing Funeral Service, 650 Woodbridge Road, Ipswich, IP4 4PW.

A memory that has been sent in by Neil Armstrong OI (1977-1982):

"I was in Dr. Chapman's 4B and 5B Maths class from 1980 to 1982. He was an extremely clear,  methodical and patient teacher. Thanks to him I was able to pass my Maths O'Level despite my rather limited aptitude for the subject. Although I did not appreciate it at the time, he must have been a very humble man. After all, he had a PhD in Chemistry and yet was able to effectively teach something as mundane as Maths O'Level. "

If you would like to send in an obituary for the next issue of the OI Journal please send to:

Many thanks
