We are very sorry to notify you of the passing of Mike who was at the School from 1944 until 1955.
Mike sadly passed away on 19th August, aged 89 years.
We are conscious that some people who knew Mike during his time at the School may not be in contact with us and we would be very grateful if you could pass on this information to those that you know.
As is usual practice, we would like to place an obituary for Mike in the 2024-25 OI Journal. If you know of any stories or memories which you can pass on to us so we can put them together for the publication we would be most grateful. Please address any contributions to me through oldipswichians@ipswich.school

So sorry to hear that Mike had died. Sorry also when I was told that he had an uncomfortable last few months.
We would have played Rugby together for Ipswich for a number of years and I have no doubt that he would have wished to attend the Rugby Celebration which you are holding at the School in October.
Apart from Rugby, he was a cricketer, golfer and a sailor on the River Deben. But he was also a talented artist and currently I am holding his painting of the front entrance to Ipswich School (see below).
This print No2/50 was purchased by Tony Greengrass OI and Tony bequeathed it to my daughter Julia, his God Daughter, who has kindly lent the print to me for the rest of my days.
This sounds like 'Happy Families' which as you must know is often Ipswich School.
I wonder who holds the original painting. Perhaps it's at the School which would be appropriate.
Hopefully others will contribute their memories for The Journal for Mike was an interesting character.
