David will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
We are conscious that some people from the time when David was at the School may not be in contact with us and we would ask if you could pass on this information to those that you know.
As is the usual practice, we would like to place an obituary for David in the 2024-25 OI Journal and would be very grateful for any stories or memories you may wish to share which we could put together for the publication. Please address any contributions to me through oldipswichians@ipswich.school
David's funeral will be held in Devon on Saturday 19th October 2024.

David and I were two of the small number of boys who chose horse riding as the alternative sporting activity for Thursday afternoons, organised by history master Donald Pegg, himself a keen rider despite the extra risk, he being a haemophiliac. It needed us to make our way to Mrs Mackman's riding establishment at Newton Hall Swilland and for me this required cycling from the school. David chose, against the rules, to drive himself in his mother's car and I was grateful to accept lifts from him. Eventually and inevitably, we were spotted and reported to Donald. At David's suggestion we fabricated the story of a bike puncture and rescue by himself, and whilst this was accepted and I was in the clear, it left him receiving the whole rap. After leaving school there were a couple of adventures in his old black Morris J2 van, but thereafter we lost touch. So, I was delighted to meet him again almost 60 years later at the School's OI reunion day last year, and to thank him again for carrying the can for us both.
