A glorious summer's day and a cricket match on the school field meant that our 30 year re-union spilled out of the loggia and onto Lime Avenue.
Eighteen 1989 leavers attende and, with a few children, partners and teachers, there was a wonderful atmosphere. A couple of drinks eased some initial nerves before we were treated to a tour of the School by Bob Clayton. A new music school, a new sports hall and a new Prep all impressed but it was the things that hadn't changed that were enjoyed more:- The Great School, the library, the swimming pool, the chapel and even Bob himself all made the memories flood back. It was amazing to see some deep in thought, quietly staring at a classrom or even at a single desk.
Back at the loggia old year book photographs of pupils and staff decorated the walls, which were painstakingly scanned and printed by David Owen and were gratefully received. They started many conversations and rekindled lost memories, some people hadn't changed, others were unrecognisable.
Our sincere thanks to Bob for the fantastic tour, the School catering staff for the beautiful food (there's one change for the better) but especially to Development Manager James Fletcher and the OI Club for making the whole day a great success.
